Alan Shearer makes astonishing claim about the Arsenal players…

Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer believes that the Arsenal players do not want Arsene Wenger in the job judging by their showing at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

We produced a horrific performance at the Hawthorns against a West Brom side who were yet to beat a top-six team all season.

Tony Pulis’ teams are usually very predictable and given that they’re the most lethal side from set-pieces in the league, allowing the same player to score twice on corners unchallenged was quite unforgivable.

Shearer believes that while there hasn’t been a lot of noise from the players regarding the manager’s future, the Newcastle United icon maintains that their performance spoke volumes.

“There has been a lot of chat about Arsene Wenger’s future,” Shearer said on Match of the Day.

“There hasn’t been a lot spoken from his players. But his players spoke today in that game.

“Judging by that performance and other recent performances, they don’t want him in that job.”

Looking at the situation from the outside, Shearer’s assessment may well ring true at other clubs, but we’re a special case.

What we’re seeing at Arsenal is a club with very little accountability, the players are able to put in such shocking performances given that they’re playing for a manager who’s never fearful of the sack.

This, in turn, leads to a careless attitude running through the entire squad and it’s why we fail to see players selected according to their performance levels.

Wenger runs the club, and these players know they can get away with just about anything.
