Alex Iwobi endorses compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho…

As Alex Iwobi prepares to face Manchester City this weekend, the Nigerian international told SkySportsNewsHQ that he’s been trying to convince his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho to join him in north London.

Iwobi is the latest player to tread the tough line from the youth ranks to a first-team regular and is one of the rising stars forming a nucleus for the Nigeran national team.

It remains to be seen whether or not Iwobi will start against Man City this weekend given his dip in form, but the 20-year-old has been exchanging messages with Iheanacho about the upcoming clash.

“Yh we’ve had a bit of banter, I’ve been trying to persuade him saying ‘come to Arsenal’ and he’s telling me to come to Man City,” Iwobi told SkySportsNewsHQ.

“It should be a good game and I’ll like to play against him.”

Iwobi has a bigger chance of starting than his friend Iheanacho does in Sunday’s clash given that Sergio Aguero is currently the preferred choice for Pep Guardiola in the lone striker role.

With Mesut Ozil fit again, it will be interesting to see if Arsene Wenger chooses to adopt a midfield three which may allow Iwobi to feature in a similar role to the one he occupied at Stamford Bridge last month.

Check out Iwobi’s interview above as he discussed our current poor form, Wenger’s position, and who his favourite player is at Arsenal.
