Arsenal fans voiced their appreciation for Hector Bellerin as he came on against Middlesbrough after their chants last week were misconstrued as a personal attack on the Spaniard.

After the Gunners faithful chanted that the players weren’t “fit to wear the shirt” as we succumbed to a 3-0 defeat, Bellerin was the nearest player to the away section and naturally bore the brunt of their frustrations.

Despite the fact that Arsene Wenger and Arsenal attempted to skew the narrative of those chants, many were of the understanding that the former Barcelona man wasn’t being singled out.

Bellerin certainly took the chant personally after posting an image on Instagram with him jogging along a beach, which he later stated was designed to “clear his mind” (Arsenal Player).

However, after being handed a little rest at Middlesbrough as Wenger switched to a back-three, Bellerin was brought on in the final five minutes of the game and the travelling fans rose to their feet to let the Spaniard know how they feel.
