Arsenal playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan has reassured fans that the players are fully behind Unai Emery and his philosophy despite back-to-back defeats to start the season, Sky Sports reports.

Admittedly, starting the campaign off against Manchester City and Chelsea was always going to be difficult but many were hoping to see visible signs of improvement.

Instead, our defence looks incredibly weak having conceded five goals in the first two games and they’re not helped by their lack of understanding.

Emery has instructed the back four to keep a high-line in order to maintain the team’s compactness and have the front players needing to cover less space to win the ball back.

Having said that, the execution wasn’t there and many are wondering if Emery can implement his style on the current bunch, something Mkhitaryan disagrees with.

“Everyone has their own opinion,” the Armenian told Sky Sports.

“We know very well what we are playing for and how we have to play.

“If we are just going to kick the ball up front and wait for God to give us a chance to score, it’s not necessary.

“The only thing we have to do is to work hard, believe in ourselves and use the chances we create to score goals.”

The belief in Emery among the squad seems unbreakable and that can only be commended. It seems the players have fully bought into his way of working though results are desperately needed.

We are Arsenal Football Club at the end of the day.
