Sead Kolasinac joins Arsenal…

Arsenal’s latest signing Sead Kolasinac has revealed that he grew up idolising Gunners legends Jens Lehmann and Thierry Henry as he grew up in Germany.

Kolasinac, who joined on a free transfer this week, is eyeing the left-back position which is currently occupied by Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs.

Given his pedigree, it seems Wenger has bought the Bosnian international to go straight into the first team, which means the future is looking bleak for Gibbs.

For Kolasinac, however, he’s delighted to be following in the footsteps of his childhood heroes.

“Arsenal has a huge tradition and I followed the club as a young boy, in the days of Jens Lehmann and Thierry Henry,” Kolasinac told Arsenal Player.

“Jens Lehmann played at Schalke too, which is where I’ve come from. As a young kid, I followed his career and I always thought he was a good goalkeeper.”

Kolasinac could represent a shrewd bit of business by the club, especially if we’re to sell Gibbs to a Premier League rival for a handsome fee.

The 23-year-old was included in the Bundesliga Team of the Season last year and looks to be a player who relishes the physical side of the game.

We’re often targeted with diagonal balls aimed at our full-backs as opposition teams attempt to bully us aerially, but that should be put to rest with Kolasinac in the side.
