Arsenal have offered Alexis Sanchez over £250,000 per week to stay at the Emirates Stadium, that is according to Sky Sports’ Jim White.

Alexis is yet to commit his future to Arsenal with his current deal set to expire in 2018, and the Chilean is consistently linked with a move away from north London this summer.

Alexis is by far our star player this season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions and being nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award for the second time in three seasons.

We’re set to enter a protracted summer of speculations, with Jim White kicking things off by claiming that we’ve offered Alexis the best contract in the club’s history.

“They (Arsenal) improved their offer to him in the last few days,” Jim told ArsenalFanTV.

“Arsenal are trying to keep Alexis Sanchez as we speak, with a bumper new offer on the table which is northwards of £250k a week.”

This follows on from an earlier report in The Evening Standard claiming that the offer currently on the table for Alexis was worth £300k per week.

If Wenger is to be believed and Alexis is happy at Arsenal with only an agreement needed to be reached, then it’s hard to see him turn down that sort of offer.

However, many of us feel that Alexis’ gripes with the club are beyond his personal financial package, and more to do with our ability to compete on the pitch.

It would be interesting to see how the Chilean would react if a new manager walked through the door this summer.
