Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson looks set to commit his future to the club by inking a five-year deal with his current contract expiring at the end of the season, The Sun’s Daniel Cutts reports.

Nelson has months remaining on his deal and after such a sporadic period among the first-team last season, it seemed the 18-year-old was intent on leaving.

We’ve struggled to keep hold of some our younger talents and only Alex Iwobi and Hector Bellerin have made the transition right through the ranks since Jack Wilshere.

Following the departure of Chris Willock in 2017 to Benfica, a trend has emerged whereby young, English talentsĀ are no longer afraid to go abroad to further their careers.

The likes of former Manchester City youngster Jadon Sancho have carved a successful career for themselves and given the aforementioned winger’s very close friendship with Nelson, one wonders if moving abroad has crossed his mind.

Having said that, it seems Nelson sees a career for himself in north London and given our lack of natural wingers in the squad, we need him to stay.

The 18-year-old has the ability to beat defenders and is rather rapid, qualities that could see him promoted to the first XI in no time.
