Arsenal announce arrival of Alexandre Lacazette…

Arsenal have announced the signing of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in a deal reported by many as a club record fee on a long-term contract.

As ever with signings of this magnitude, a deal was heavily reported to being close this week with Lacazette undergoing a medical on Tuesday at London Colney.

Despite our interest in Kylian Mbappé, it seems Arsene Wenger wasn’t prepared to wait around and once again be searching for scraps on the final days of the window.

The boss has pulled out the biggest deal in our history for one of the most lethal forwards in European football over the past few seasons, with Lacazette netting 37 goals last season.

Ever since the sale of Robin Van Persie in 2012, we’ve struggled to lure a top centre-forward to replace him, with experiments such as Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Lucas Perez all failing in terms of leading the line.

Lacazette has netted 113 goals in all competition since 2013 and is clearly eager to prove that he’s capable of producing similar levels at Premier League level.

The 26-year-old follows Sead Kolašinac as our summer acquisitions, and he’ll hopefully not be the last with a few other areas in our squad needing to be strengthened.

Check out his photo shoot in the video above, featuring Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin.
