Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez returned to pre-season training as planned on Friday despite reports claiming that Arsenal are in talks with the former champions about the Algerian international (via Football London).

Mahrez has been linked with us intensively since his sensational campaign which won Leicester City the league in 2016, though he decided to stay extend his contract.

However, after the culmination of the 2016/17 season, Mahrez released a statement confirming his desire to leave Leicester this summer, something which instantly linked us with the 26-year-old again.

Arsene Wenger further intensified those rumours after refusing to rule out making an offer for the Algerian and professing his admiration for the player.

Wenger rarely goes into detail about any player unless he intends to make a move is confident of succeeding which means that Mahrez may well still end up at Arsenal.

Many feared a rebellious approach from Mahrez this summer, but it seems he’ll remain profession until his future is sorted after reporting for pre-season as scheduled.

He’s also expected to travel with the squad to their pre-season camp in Austria as we wait to see if the club firms up its interest.
