‘Arsenal’s familiar failings point towards Wenger’…

The Football Writers Podcast guests have been dissecting Arsenal’s troubles this week after back-to-back defeats to Everton and Manchester City in the Premier League.

Jonathon Northcroft from The Times and Tony Evans from the Evening Standard joined host Mike Calvin as they attempted to understand our mild capitulation.

After going to the summit of the Premier League with a 3-1 win over Stoke City, the nightmare week which followed has left us nine points behind leaders Chelsea in fourth place.

Mike Calvin asked the guests why we’re witnessing familiar failings at Arsenal despite us possessing a new and strong squad filled with international players.

“That makes you think that it must come from the manager,” Jonathon Northcroft concluded.

“There must be something there that there is not enough consequence for losing for those guys.”

Even the most ardent Wenger supporter cannot deny that despite there being wholesale changes in the playing staff, the soft-centred flaw in our team remains.

At some point, the common denominator must face some criticism.
