Arsenal are set to face Lazio instead of Sevilla for our final pre-season game ahead of the new season given the Spanish side’s Super Cup commitments, Goal’s Chris Wheatley reports.

As the squad gears up for a gruelling week of pre-season in Singapore, which will also see us face Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, our final outing before the big kick-off could be altered.

The destination – Stockholm – looks set to remain, though it seems Italian giants Lazio have decided to step up and add another fixture to their preparations.

Stockholm is apparently home to the largest Arsenal fanbase in Europe outside of the UK, and our last visit there came in 2016 against Manchester City.

Serie A begins a week after the Premier League and given the need for a top opponent for the final fine-tuning fixture, it’s rather commendable that the club have managed to secure a match against Lazio should the report turn out to be true.

Given our lack of knowledge regarding Emery’s preferred system and who he views as being pivotal to his team, that final game will most likely be reserved for the team that’ll start the season against Manchester City.

It’s a new era at Arsenal and I for one, certainly can’t wait for the ride.
