Arsene Wenger unhappy at the chances we missed…

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger bemoaned our lack of efficiency against Manchester United after we suffered our first league defeat at home since January.

We had 33 shots at David De Gea’s goal, with the Spaniard making a record 14 saves during the match, with some of his stops defying belief.

Alexandre Lacazette eventually found a way past the assuming De Gea to bring one goal back, but Man United quickly restored the two-goal lead they raced into during the first 15 minutes of the game.

Our efficiency was off against Mourinho’s men, at both ends of the pitch.

“I’m angry and disappointed because when you produce that quality of performance and have nothing to show for it at the end, it’s very difficult to accept,” Wenger told BT Sport.

“As always in a defeat, you have sometimes no positives, but today there were a lot of positives.

“We were not efficient enough in the areas where it matters.”

This defeat is one many will blame on individual defensive errors, with Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi hitting the self-destruction buttons.

Having said that, we could’ve gone about our fight-back less recklessly with Man United open to counter us at their will from the 16th minute.

The boss chose to replace the injured Mustafi with Alex Iwobi, leaving Koscielny and Monreal at the back alongside Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard.

It was a bit suicidal.
