Wenger denies Anthony Taylor push…

Arsene Wenger denied that he pushed the fourth official Anthony Taylor after he was sent off for protesting the penalty awarded to Burley in stoppage time.

It was a frantic end to the game as Burnley felt they had snatched a point with Andre Gray’s late penalty; however, we were awarded a spot-kick ourselves with Alexis Sanchez giving us all three points.

Taylor felt that Wenger was too forceful with his protest and attempted to usher Wenger down the tunnel, but the Frenchman refused to budge at one point.

Asked if it got physical with Taylor, Wenger said: “No, no. I just went it in, and after I watched it here (the tunnel).

“I thought I could stay in the corridor.”

Wenger wasn’t obliged to do the post-match interview given that he was sent off, but the Frenchman is clearly using his experience to defuse the situation and escape further punishment.

We’ll now have to wait for the referee’s match report to see if the boss is handed a touchline ban for our game against Southampton in the FA Cup.
