Arsene Wenger makes a bizarre statement during AGM speech…

Arsene Wenger put his long-term future in doubt at the annual AGM after revealing that he’ll sit down with the board this summer to reflect on his tenure.

Wenger, who signed a two-year contract extension last summer despite mass protests, saved the board once again from shareholders at yet another frosty encounter.

After Stan Kroenke and Sir Chips Keswick came under fierce criticism for their poor engagement or lack thereof – in Kroenke’s case, Wenger delivered yet another eloquent speech.

It’s been the usual timeline of events in recent years, with early tension leading to a rapturous applause at the end for Wenger.

However, before dropping the mic, the boss revealed the unexpected and claimed that his future will be up for discussion at the end of the season.

The boss has never broken a contract in his career and the overwhelming feeling was that he’d remain Arsenal manager at least until 2019.

However, following a disastrous campaign last season in the league – which he put down to the confusion surrounding his future – can Wenger survive yet another finish outside the top four?

With our two main sponsorship deals open for negotiation in 2018, being outside the top four doesn’t give us the best leverage.

Wenger’s final words in his AGM speech can be read below (via Daily Cannon), with the full spec able to be seen in the video above.

“I would like to finish with my personal situation because there were some concerns as well. I must tell you my hunger, my commitment, is bigger than ever. But I accept of course when you have been a long time at the club, everyone always questions that. I question myself a lot, don’t worry, to do better every single day.

“I will sit down every year with the board to see where I go from there. But I would like to assure you that my hunger to be successful with this club is absolutely huge. No matter what happens when I go, I will always love this club forever, and be a determined fan of the qualities of this club. Thank you very much, have a good day.”
