Arsene Wenger laughs off Barcelona’s interest in Hector Bellerin…

Arsene Wenger laughed off speculation about Hector Bellerin’s future after being asked about any potential approach from Barcelona this summer.

Bellerin, almost like Cesc Fabregas, seems to be forever linked with a return to Barcelona given that we took him from their academy at the age of 15.

The Spaniard has blossomed into one of the most consistent performers in Europe and given Barcelona’s desperate need for a right-back, they’re constantly linked with a move for Bellerin.

However, Wenger chuckled and pointed to the 22-year-old’s contract after he extended for six-and-a-half years in November.

“He just extended his contract and has an unbelievable number of years to go,” Wenger told the press.

“There again, it’s very difficult to take these things seriously.”

One would’ve imagined that Bellerin’s extension, which sent out a significant message, would’ve ended speculation about his future but the media seem obsessed with this fictional Barcelona link.

The club is in full control in this case, which should finally prove to them the importance of contracts and how one should never allow a player to run down to the final years of his deal.

Bellerin has suffered a dip in form in 2017, but the speedster will be an integral part of our future.
