The Sun’s Neil Ashton on Ozil and Alexis’ contracts…

The Sun reporter Neil Ashton believes that Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil want to be paid on-par with the likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Speaking after our 4-1 win against Basel on Tuesday night which saw us top Group A, the journalist believes that Arsenal must break their wage structure to tie down the two stars.

Ozil and Alexis are seen as two of the leading players in the Premier League and deserve to be paid as such in line with their performances.

“They are two of the best players in the Premier League,” Neil Ashton said on Radio 5 Live.

“When they look around them, Rooney’s on nearly £300k-a-week, Pogba’s commanding huge money, and they want a piece of that.”

Given that Ozil and Alexis have already tasted life at Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively, the seem comfortable in their surroundings at Arsenal and want to solidify their status as the main man.

While Wenger has previously been an advocate of the ‘socialist’ wage structure, he must accept that the two stars in question are head and shoulders above the rest of their teammates and must be paid as such.
