Chris Sutton takes aim at Arsene Wenger…

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has launched an astonishing attack on Arsene Wenger and accused the boss of running a “dictatorship” at Arsenal.

Sutton claimed that Wenger has purposely surrounded himself with “yes men” and can’t seem to see how bad the situation it at the club.

Following our fourth league defeat in five games to West Bromwich Albion, Sutton believes that the players are no longer playing for Wenger.

“It’s a dictatorship and he surrounds himself with yes men,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He’s been selfish. I’m surprised Steve Bould [Wenger’s assistant] doesn’t get hold of him and say this is the reality.”

While Sutton may be slightly extreme in his assessment, there’s no doubt that the lack of clarity from the board on the direction the club intends to go in is quite pathetic.

Wenger has proven very little in terms of warranting a new deal though it seems the board wouldn’t have a clue what to do if the Frenchman departed.

With the results representing a crisis, it does seem like the club’s attempting to find the right time to announce Wenger’s new contract, something which may well cause further angst among the supporters.
