Danny Welbeck seeking FA Cup salvation…

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has called on his teammates to grasp the opportunity available to them to save our season with a win in Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea.

We have been poor in the league this season, finishing outside the top four for the first time under Arsene Wenger – a punishment for our pathetic collapse during the spring.

While we rallied to win our final few games of the season to have some hopes of finishing in the Champions League, we eventually felt short and Welbeck isn’t aiming to mask that.

Having missed the final in 2015 final through injury, Welbeck is looking forward to the London derby.

“As a club, the way the season’s panned out, it’s not a position we want to be in at all,” Welbeck told Arsenal Player.

“We know we have got the opportunity of playing in an FA Cup final and it’s something we want to make sure we do our best in.”

Welbeck admitted that our last appearance at an FA Cup final was a “bittersweet” moment for him as he watched his teammates thrash Aston Villa to lift the trophy.

The 27-year-old was about to begin a long road to recover from a serious knee injury, a period which has made him more mature as a player.

Having spent most of his Arsenal career on the treatment table, Welbeck can really kick-start his Arsenal career with a match-winning display against Chelsea.
