Ian Darke predicts fan riot if Arsenal sell Alexis Sanchez to Man City…

BT Sport commentator Ian Darke warned that Arsenal could experience a “fan riot” if they were to sanction the sale of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City.

The Chilean has so far been reluctant to extend his current contract despite stating that his agent remains in talks with the club, and has been heavily linked with a reunion Pep Guardiola.

However, despite the intense links, not one offer has come in for the 28-year-old something which is rather odd for a player 12 months away from the end of his contract.

Arsene Wenger categorically stated last month that Alexis Sanchez wouldn’t be sold this window, something he will no doubt be reminded of if he went back on his word.

For Ian Darke, however, selling him to City cannot be seen as an option for the club given the inevitable fan reactions.

“I think his head has been turned,” Darke told ESPN FC.

“Manchester City, I think it it’s an open secret, would like to sign him – not Bayern Munich, apparently, anymore.

“I think it’s watch this space and see what happens there, but there might be a fan right – not the first – among the Arsenal supporters if Sanchez goes.”

Arsenal fans are already on edge following Wenger’s contract extension, and the club know they have to seriously tread carefully or risk turning next season into another prolonged tug-of-war between player and club.
