Stewart Robson predicts January exit for Mesut Ozil…

Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson believes Mesut Ozil is no longer indispensable at the Emirates Stadium and predicted that Arsene Wenger would be willing to let him go in January.

Ozil is now a hot topic among those close to the club, especially since our solid display at Chelsea when the German wasn’t in the squad.

With his contract expiring next summer and no progress in sight in terms of an extension, life without Ozil will soon become a reality, and Robson feels the club should be pushing the agenda.

Reports suggest that Ozil may be eyeing a move to Manchester United in a reunion with Jose Mourinho, with many stating that we’re a better team without him.

“Defensively, they’ve been much better without the ball over the past four games (with Ozil),” Robson said on ESPN FC.

“There’s been a greater attitude to go and win the ball back, when they lose the ball they try to win it back as quickly as possible.”

On what he feels the future holds for Ozil, Robson replied: “I think Ozil will go from Arsenal, come Christmas.

“I think Arsenal are quite willing to let him go at the moment.”

All the focus was on Alexis throughout the summer with his every expression scrutinized, Ozil has managed to remain under the radar despite being in the same predicament.

It may actually boil down to the competence of both players’ PR teams, with Ozil consistently engaging with fans by posting endearing messages.

However, they’re both set to walk out on a free next summer and have probably already made their minds up.
