Frank Lampard feels Arsenal will fall short once again…

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has predicted that Arsenal will miss out on the top four once again this season along with Liverpool.

Speaking as the new addition to the BT Sport punditry team this season, Lampard feels our squad is considerably weaker than that of the teams who finished above us last season.

This season will present the first time in a few years in which all the top six or seven teams are involved in European competitions, which makes for a more even playing ground.

“I think Arsenal and Liverpool will miss out,” Lampard told BT Sport.

“Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United I really fancy to be top three.

“Arsenal and Liverpool I think will still need to add to their squads in the last couple of weeks in the two to elevate themselves up there.”

As Arsenal fans, we should be used to this by now. Pundits spent a decade claiming ‘this will be the year’ we finish outside the top four – every year.

It finally happened last season but under very special circumstances.

Wenger’s future was an obvious distraction, and we still amassed 75 points, a tally which has safely secured our Champions League status in the past.

I’m confident we can, at the very least, get back in Europe’s elite club competition.
