Gary Neville sympathises with Arsene Wenger…

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville spoke on Arsene Wenger’s current plight and claimed that his performances are “tough to watch” while calling on the Arsenal players to stand up and be counted.

Neville has backed Wenger throughout the season and continues to stress that the problems at Arsenal go beyond the manager and what he’s in control of.

The former Valencia coach has always called for the longevity of head coaches and managers and doesn’t want to see the last manager of his kind in Arsene Wenger being hounded out of the club.

Neville labelled Wenger “a man of distinction” while stating that “football people” find it tough to see him go through such rigorous criticism from his own supporters.

Though Neville claims that the Frenchman isn’t above criticism, he doesn’t like to see managers circled around especially those who’ve given decades of service to a football club.

Nevertheless, those words may have carried more weight if Gary Neville wasn’t a Manchester United fan – who’s caned Wenger for much of the same points currently being made by the Frenchman’s detractors.

He’s referred to Wenger as “naive” and “arrogant” in the past for consistently failing to challenge for the biggest of trophies while refusing to change his system.

As a Gunners fan, one can’t help but feel that it’s in Neville’s best interest for Wenger to remain Arsenal manager.

He has identified Wenger as our main issue, whether he publically admits it or not, and while he’s here, we’re clearly no threat a potential title charge from Man United.
