Glenn Hoddle makes a bold statement…

Former Spurs player Glenn Hoddle believes that Arsenal are a more balanced side without Santi Cazorla who’s currently out with an ankle injury after undergoing surgery.

Arsene Wenger has been desperately trying to find a midfielder pairing which would complement the side in the Spaniard’s absence, and Hoddle likes a midfield pivot of Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin.

The two started in our 5-1 demolition of West Ham on Saturday and produced a more and powerful display at the heart of our midfield.

“Although he’s a really good offensive player, for me I don’t think it’s a massive miss,” Hoddle said.

“I think with Xhaka and Coquelin in the holding position in midfield, that gives them a real base and a real defensive structure in front of the back four.”

Hoddle  suggested that the front four are then able to concentrate on wreaking havoc in the opposition’s half, knowing that we’ll not be susceptible to the counter attack.

While Xhaka and Coquelin are a solid partnership, I think we should be able to play with only one holding player at home and partner them with Aaron Ramsey or the returning Cazorla.
