Hector Bellerin has no intention of retracting his statements about the fan channel…

Arsenal star Hector Bellerin has doubled down on his criticisms of fan channel ArsenalFanTV after causing an uproar on social media upon his visit to Oxford Union.

The Spaniard initially claimed that he couldn’t understand how a fan could produce a platform that invariably profits from Arsenal’s failures throughout the season.

With no game this weekend due to our FA Cup exit, Bellerin’s comments have dominated the discourse among Arsenal fans on social media.

Footballers are often accused of being somewhat robotic so it was rather refreshing to see the 22-year-old speak so freely about a number of topics for over 40 minutes.

That’s the message Bellerin wanted to emphasise when responding to the reaction to the ArsenalFanTV soundbite, taking to his social profiles and asking fans to pay more attention to the other topics.

“There’s some misleading quotes going around,” Bellerin posted online.

“At no point have I criticised [the] Arsenal fan base. I have nothing but respect for all the support we get through ups & downs. I just voiced my opinion about a platform.

“Guess some people just can’t take opinions about themselves.”

Bellerin then pointed towards the various other topics he covered, including racist abuse suffered by young players such as Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster

“Anyway, in the @OxfordUnion talk I spoke about Mental Health, Healthy Life Balance, Racism which @RhianBrewster9 and many are subjects of in football, and other key society problems,” Bellerin wrote.

“Maybe we should focus on all opening up about these also.”
