Mesut Ozil is a fan of the memes…

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil produced a stunning display during his last semi-final appearance at Wembley as we defeated Reading 2-1 on our way to clinching the FA Cup for the second year in succession.

Ozil laid on both goals for the match-winner Alexis Sanchez, but it was it first assist which mesmerised the masses and sent social media into overdrive.

With Reading camped outside their penalty box, Ozil had a number of options to choose from yet managed to pick out a run from Alexis Sanchez that only he saw.

It led to a fan on Twitter creating the meme below, and Ozil has had his say on the topic ahead of the semi-final clash against Manchester City on Sunday.

“It’s a funny picture, I think I’ve seen it before,” Ozil told Arsenal Player.

“When I saw the picture, I surprised myself that I saw him.

“Maybe I’m exaggerating but it’s an ability I have, that overview,” Ozil added.

It really was a sensational pass which was finished with aplomb by Alexis, who certainly loves a trip to Wembley having scored in his last few appearances there.

The movement that led to the goal gave us hope that the £77million duo may strike up a telepathic partnership for years to come which would allow us to compete for the biggest honours, sadly that hasn’t been the case.

However, the two can add another FA Cup winner’s medal to their cabinet should they produce similar levels of performances against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Check out Ozil’s full pre-match preview in the video above.
