Mesut Ozil says his door is open to Sead Kolasinac…

Mesut Ozil has made it clear that he’ll do all he can to help fellow German-speaker Sead Kolasinac settle into life at Arsenal on and off the pitch.

Ozil revealed that he spoke to German teammate Julian Draxler to get the lowdown on the new arrival, given that Kolasinac grew up with the Paris Saint-Germain man at Schalke.

Kolasinac comes in to strengthen an area which struggled in last season with both Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs failing to produce consistently high levels of performance.

Since moving to a back three, the left-wing back role has been a problem position as Monreal has become a more accomplished left centre-back.

Kolasinac is adept in that role and can also play in a back four, with his imposing stature his most obvious quality.

“I’ve spoken to a few players who have played with him at Schalke, like Draxler,” Ozil told Arsenal Player.

“They said to me that Sead is a really good player with a character that will fit our team.

“What I’ve seen of him on the training pitch so far is that he’s very strong, but character-wise he seems to be a really nice guy. We’re happy to have him in our team.”

And, if the Bosnian international is eager to know his way around London and what properties to move into, Ozil says he’s more than happy to fill him in.

“As a new player, you want to know about where you can live, what you can do, which restaurants are good. If he has any questions, my door is always open to him.”
