Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has insisted that he’s determined to lead us all the way in the Europa League following last year’s frustration in this competition, he told BT Sport.

Aubameyang joined us in January from Borussia Dortmund and although he appeared for the German club in the Champions League, he was still denied eligibility by UEFA.

A new rule – one which has since been abolished – stated that if the said team were relegated to the Europa League in the same season, then a player moving between those clubs would become cup-tied.

Since Dortmund finished third in the Champions League group, it meant the 29-year-old couldn’t feature for us. Given our exit one step away from the final, Aubemayng wants to right those wrongs.

“Yes, of course, especially for me because last season I didn’t play in the Europa League with the guys and I’m really happy to be back in this competition,” the forward said.

“We want to go to the final of course, and I hope we’ll do well in the next games.”

Aubemayang grabbed a brace in our 4-2 win against FC Vorskla, setting us on the way to a 4-0 lead before we gave away two silly consolation goals.
