Troy Deeney doubles down on “cojones” jibe against Arsenal…

Watford striker Troy Deeney is sticking by his infamous “cojones” comment which he made after he came on to turn the game around in October to give The Hornets a 2-1 over Arsenal.

It’s a comment which has followed him since and ahead of his return to the Emirates for the first time since uttering those words on national TV, a hostile environment was expected.

Deeney didn’t enjoy the best of afternoons in north London on Sunday with the faithful in the terraces letting him know exactly how they felt about him.

We secured a comfortable 3-0 win, with the Watford skipper also missing a penalty as Petr Cech saved his first spot-kick since joining us in 2015.

Having said that, speaking to Copa90 before Sunday’s clash, Deeney fully stands on what he said and has welcomed anyone who feels offended to approach him about it.

“The main reason I said the comment if you remember just before Clev (Tom Cleverley) scored; the ball gets cleared in the air and Ozil comes to control it, and he panics because he thinks somebody’s coming to get him.

“I was just like: ‘you bottled it’. Don’t get me wrong the geezer’s an unbelievable footballer, much better than me, but I just thought that just sums you lot up.”

Deeney was then asked to touch on his post-match comments towards Bellerin, who he had a dig at for complaining about the penalty he conceded which drew Watford level.

“Hector’s my boy. I can make jokes like that because I know him. People forget that he came to Watford on loan before he was in the Arsenal team.

“Like I say, if anyone’s really got a problem, come and say ‘hello’.”

I’m sure we know what Deeney means here.
