Unai Emery gives his take on the two major talking points in terms of exits at the club…

Arsenal boss Unai Emery was asked about the uncertainty surrounding the futures of midfielder Aaron Ramsey and chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

Gazidis has been linked with a shock move to AC Milan which surprised many given the changes he’s enforced throughout the club over the past six months, establishing himself as the head honcho in the process.

Arsene Wenger has been replaced by Unai Emery, and the likes of Sven Mislintat, Raul Sanllehi and Huss Fahmy as senior officials to help the Spanish head coach.

In terms of Ramsey, he’s currently locked in contract negotiations with the club and with 12 months left on his deal, it remains to be seen if the club keeps him beyond the transfer window.

Following our friendly against Atletico Madrid in Singapore, Emery made it clear that he wants Ramsey to stay, though he didn’t have much to say about the Gazidis story.

“It’s not easy, but it does change. I was thinking about the match today, then preparation for the match Saturday,” Emery told reporters after the game (via HayterTV).

“I think Aaron is an important player for us.

“The contract is one thing for the club and then one thing for the player. I want him to stay with us, to work with us, to give the team big performances with his quality. I think he’s going to stay here with us.”

In terms of our CEO, Emery said:

“For me, every day we are having meetings together and speaking about the Arsenal project.

“We always speak about how we can improve, how we can work together to give the club all the quality we can. When I arrived here, the first meeting was with Ivan.

“For me, he’s a very good person, a very good professional and he has a lot of experience in the football world. I don’t know what he’s going to do because I only speak with him about the Arsenal project.”

I think it’s extremely unfair for a manager still getting to grips with the English language to consistently answer for the CEO who’s allowing rumours to circulate about a potential exit.

It’s time for Ivan Gazidis to speak up, he’s been doing a lot of that recently!
