Arsenal head coach Unai Emery decided to focus on the positives following our 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, our second loss in as many weeks.

Starting the season against the last two Premier League champions was always going to be a difficult start against a head coach looking to revolutionalise our style of play.

Despite the defeat, we had our lion share of good moments and we really should’ve been 5-2 in front heading into the break given the number of gilt-edged chances we squandered.

However, our defending was equally as bad as our high line constantly gave into Chelsea’s simple ball over the top.

Regardless, Emery wants to focus on the football we played and has vowed that our young midfielders will improve.

“You win or you lose and we lost,” the Spaniard summarised to BT Sport.

“The result is important. It’s one process. Today, in the first half we started doing, for moments, creating chances to score. And for that, I am happy.

“Our reaction was very good and we had chances to make it 2-2 and we deserved to do more by half time. Half time is good for us, the second half we need to continue this control and to create chances.

“The second half we didn’t push, didn’t keep possession like the first half. We gave them options to score.

“We also had three good chances to score, didn’t do it and they did. It’s one process, our process.

“The second half we played with two midfielders, 19 and 22-years-old. They will improve. They have experience from this.”

Emery must be afforded patience but equally, we need to start getting points on the board if the players are to fully believe in his philosophy and way of working.
