Arsene Wenger lays down the law on Ozil & Alexis’ future…

Arsene Wenger has promised fans that Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will not be leaving the club this summer, despite the fact that they’re entering the final year of their contract.

Following Wenger’s announcement last week that he’s staying for another two years, attention has quickly shifted to how he plans to build a squad ready to challenge for the league next season.

The focus is therefore on our two superstars who’ve’, inexplicably, been allowed to run their contracts down to the final year, leaving us in a serious predicament.

In previous years, we’ve sold players in similar circumstances, even if it’s to a Premier League rival – Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie come to mind.

However, for Wenger, that will not be the case this time.

“This summer, first of all, they will stay at the club and hopefully we can extend their contracts,” Wenger told beinSPORTS.

“We cannot weaken the club or the team unless we can find someone of the same calibre and they absolutely want to believe.

“If you sign a contract somewhere then you sign to give your best for the rest of the contract.”

Ozil and Alexis don’t seem like the type of players to kick up a fuss should they not get a move, though neither player has publically said they wish to leave.

Given that we could probably recoup the money we paid for both stars were we to sell them, it’s very difficult to see us turning down that sort of money and risk allowing the duo to walk for free.

Having said that, Wenger has been adamant that Alexis and Ozil are keen on staying, and it’s just a case of negotiating a suitable deal for all parties.

Check out Wenger’s comments on our mesmeric duo in the video above, and do you believe we can keep Ozil and Alexis this summer should they not extend their contracts?
