Jose Mourinho: I Would Never Have Sold Danny Welbeck To Arsenal

Jose Mourinho voices Danny Welbeck regret…

Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United made some mistakes before his tenure when letting players go and named Danny Welbeck as one of the stars he would never have sold.

The Red Devils have spent huge sums of money over the past four years in an attempt to reinstate their status under Sir Alex Ferguson and, as a result, they’ve had to let a few players go to balance the books.

Welbeck joined us on deadline day in 2014 after Man United splashed the cash on Radamel Falcao and although he’s had terrible luck with injuries, the England forward has been a welcome edition to the squad.

Able to play out wide or through the middle, Welbeck is one of the players you need in the biggest of games and Mourinho clearly recognises that.

“Manchester United sold players that I would never sell, and bought players that I would never buy,” Mourinho told Gary Lineker.

Pressed on who he felt Man United shouldn’t have let go, the Portuguese coach said: “I would never have sold Di Maria, Chicharito, Danny Welbeck – never, no chance.”

Not only would Mourinho have kept Welbeck, he would never have sold him to us given the great animosity between himself and Arsene Wenger.

While at Chelsea, he also praised our capture of Welbeck at the time (via Bleacher Report), so he’s clearly an admirer of the 27-year-old.

Check out his thoughts in the video above.
