Spanish football expert Sid Lowe reports that while Barcelona’s interest in Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin is genuine, they are wary of splashing a significant chunk of their transfer budget on a right-back.

Despite Barcelona’s glamour, the La Liga giants have experienced some financial issues in recent years given the club’s huge burdening debt.

This has been compelled by the fact that Lionel Messi and Neymar seem to ask for a yearly wage increase, with the Catalan club shelling out some £46m per year for the duo’s salary.

Having said that, Barcelona would like to add Bellerin to their squad, but not at any cost.

“This is a deal that makes sense, the question mark is whether they can get it done financially,” Lowe said.

“My doubt with this is whether Barcelona would spend £4omillion on a right-back when there are three or four positions that they want to reinforce.

“Right-back is a priority, no doubt about it, but it’s not the very, very biggest of their priorities.”

Lowe also seems to forget a more importantly stumbling block, Arsenal are not selling a player who’s just penned a six-and-a-half-year deal.

Bellerin has been educated at Arsenal and after winning two FA Cups during his time with us, he’s finally ready to kick on and establish himself as one of the best in the world.

We’re not Barcelona’s feeder club. Not anymore, that’s for sure.
