Aaron Ramsdale is loving life at Arsenal and the dressing room atmosphere…
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale admitted that he’s loving life at the club and praised the atmosphere in the dressing room with the team currently occupying fourth in the Premier League, he told Arsenal.com.
Ramsdale has been a revelation this season after many observers and fans raised their eyebrows at Mikel Arteta’s pursuit of the 23-year-old who’d just experienced back-to-back relegations.
Not only did Arteta force through the move, but he was also prepared to pay a premium and, at an initial £24million, Ramsdale is by far the most expensive goalkeeper in the club’s history.
Those doubts have long been distinguished with Ramsdale’s performances this season as the England international forms a solid rearguard behind the defensive wall of Ben White and Gabriel.
Also, the shot-stopper has become a fan favourite due to his open personality and has slotted into the young, thriving culture Arteta has built at London Colney.
“That sums it up pretty well,” Ramsdale told the club’s official website concerning a social media post about enjoying his time at the club.
“I’m loving my football and the love I’m getting from my teammates and the fans is amazing. The fans are really getting behind us and I think they’re seeing improvements every week.
“And I think the team is great because there’s a good dynamic of younger and older players, lads who just want to work harder and get better, and someone like Laca who’s one of the senior players but is there on the training pitch early every day, wanting to work and wanting to learn.
“When we come in the dressing room it’s mayhem at the moment with restrictions coming back in, but we’re doing our best to keep ourselves happy and entertained, and these lads are great,” Ramsdale added.
Arteta has occasionally bored fans when constantly referring to the culture at the club and establishing his “non-negotiables”, but all great dynasties need a foundation.
We can see the turmoil engulfing a certain other Premier League club and that reaks of a lack of uniform culture – something that has been crucial for Manchester City and Liverpool’s period of dominance.
This group of players are by far the most likeable I can remember cheering on.
