Alan McInally: Olivier Giroud’s Arsenal Winner Is “A Biggie”

Alan McInally dissects Arsenal’s win

Soccer Saturday pundit Alan McInally stressed that Olivier Giroud’s winner in the final minutes against West Bromwich Albion could be crucial for our season.

Giroud bullied Gareth McAuley in the penalty area to send the ball looping over Ben Foster and hand us all three points to keep our slim title hopes alive.

Chelsea defeated Bournemouth and we were 11 points clear at one point, but we finally snatched all three points that we fully deserved.

“That goal from Arsenal is a biggie, Jeff,” McInally said on Soccer Saturday.

“For the simple reason that they keep the pressure on the teams around them who are all winning at the moment.”

Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace visit the Emirates Stadium next and we can expect a repeat of the same tactic, although the Eagles are definitely less efficient in defence than West Brom.

Check out the post-match debrief from the Soccer Saturday studios in the video above.
