Arsenal star Alex Iwobi is hoping for Aaron Ramsey’s contract situation to be resolved and claimed that the Welshman would be missed if he was to leave, BT Sports reports.

Reports emerged last week that club withdrew their contract offer to Ramsey, a contract the 27-year-old was apparently ready to sign and commit his future to (via BBC Sport).

Ramsey has been locked in negotiations with the club for a long time now and it seemed that all parties were closing in on a deal from the whispers that were emerging from the club.

However, following the departure of chief executive Ivan Gazidis, it seems the club’s position shifted and according to the above BBC report, the deal was removed.

It means that as things stand, Ramsey will be allowed to leave on a free transfer at the age of 28 in June.

For Iwobi, though, he hopes his midfield partner can still stay.

“He’s a great player. When I was breaking into the first team, I always used to watch and learn things from him. I am still doing that today,” Iwobi told BT Sport.

“It would be a great miss if he goes but hopefully he can stay. We all want him to stay. Hopefully, it can get sorted.”

Given the number of executives we now have at the club who’re involved in such decisions, one thing we can be certain is that this move was calculated.

Judging by what we’ve seen of Emery’s philosophy in recent weeks, one wonders if Ramsey has the legs or the technical quality to fit into the Spaniard’s ethos?
