Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi has hailed Unai Emery for the intensity he’s drilled into the side after we fought back from a goal down to secure a much-deserved draw against Liverpool, BT Sport reports.

Jurgen Klopp’s men came to the Emirates undefeated and with an aura of a team destined to challenge at the top of the Premier League this season.

They reached the final of the Champions League last term, and this game was seen as one that would determine where we’re at as a team under Emery.

Our winning run ended at Crystal Palace last week following a 2-2 draw, and the task was to compete with a team which has invested heavily over the past 18-months.

We certainly stood to the test, dominating the game in terms of possession and could’ve nicked the winner at the end with Hector Bellerin’s chance.

“It was a difficult game with both attacking teams and I guess the fair result was the draw”, Iwobi said.

“We are giving extra intensity and you can see the manager demands a lot not just in games but on the training pitch and it is paying off.

“People say juice is banned but we do get it in the mornings so he is not too strict! It is not just the nutrition it is the attention to detail and tactics and you can see we are enjoying it.”

We’ve certainly become more competitive in terms of our running stats this season, though it will be interesting to see if we can keep up this intensity throughout the season.

Managing our Europa League ambitions will be Emery’s biggest tasks, as teams in England competing in that competition tend to suffer in the Premier League.
