Alexandre Lacazette: Ambitious Guendouzi Wants To Reach The Top Of The Game

Alexandre Lacazette is excited to witness Matteo Guendouzi’s trajectory…

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette believes that Matteo Guendouzi will reach the top of the game and has praised his compatriot’s desire to do so, the Frenchman told Arsenal Player.

Guendouzi received two notable nods this month with Arsenal fans voting him as our player of the month for September despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang winning the Premier League’s equivalent gong.

This was followed by the starlet being shortlisted for the Golden Boy award to determine who the next superstar of world football is.

Guendouzi is the first Arsenal player to make the shortlist since Jack Wilshere finished as runner-up in 2010 behind Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli.

The former Lorient starlet has been one of our consistent performers this term and his drive from midfield has been a joy to watch.

He single-handedly dragged us back into the game in our home fixtures against Aston Villa and Spurs respectively; games in which we were trailing at half-time.

“I’m really happy for Matteo, he played really well, he helped the team when we needed him, he is really improving each season so we are all really happy with his performances this month,” Lacazette said about the dynamic midfielder.

“We can see that every top midfielder in the world is like this [demanding the ball and being brave in possession]. They all want to take the ball.

“Matteo has a good ambition, he wants to be one of the best players in his position so every day he is trying to be the best and this month he showed that he can be.”

Guendouzi has been on international duty with France’s U21 this week and one hopes he and the rest of the players return unscathed ahead of our trip to Sheffield United.
