Alexandre Lacazette us suffering from a groin problem…
Arsene Wenger has ruled Alexandre Lacazette out of the much-anticipated clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford after the Frenchman was substituted at half-time against Huddersfield.
Lacazette started off brightly after finding the back of the net inside five minutes, and it set us on the way to our most comfortable victory this season.
The 26-year-old pulled up just before the interval and could be seen crouching down, though it was still a surprise to see him replaced by Olivier Giroud at the break.
His compatriot went on to bag a brace as he continues to enhance his reputation as a super sub, and now Wenger accepts that Lacazette will be too short for the visit of Man United.
“Lacazette has a groin problem and will be out certainly for Saturday’s game,” Wenger revealed.
It will probably mean that Olivier Giroud will be handed his first league start this season, though it would make more tactical sense if we were to start Danny Welbeck as our main striker.
Our most impressive display this season came in the north London derby and having a striker capable of setting the pace in terms of the pressing from the front is imperative.
Also, Welbeck’s record against his former side is impressive since he joined us, with his recent strike against them coming in our 2-0 victory against Mourinho’s side in May.
