Alexandre Lacazette looking to emulate Thierry Henry…
Arsenal new boy Alexandre Lacazette has vowed to write his own chapter in the club’s history similar to his idol Thierry Henry following his record-breaking move.
Lacazette is looking to become our next French star striker, following in the footsteps of Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry and Sylvain Wiltord.
All three strikers drove us to league titles and double-winning seasons, etching their name in the club’s history, and the former Lyon man is looking to do the same.
Given that he’s arrived as our record signing at £52million, Lacazette knows he’ll be afforded little time to settle and needs to hit the ground running.
Arsene Wenger has clearly signed him for his immaculate goal-scoring record and the 26-year-old seems confident of proving that he belongs at this level.
“I would like to write my own chapter here,” Lacazette told Arsenal Player.
“I would love to make the fans as happy as Thierry did.
“Yes, he was a huge role model for me. To achieve what he did at this club is exceptional.”
We’ve sorely missed a clinical striker to lead our line for a number of years, instead relying on the goals to be shared around the squad.
However, as we’ve seen over the past few years, each title-winning side has had a centre-forward deliver at least 20 league goals on their way to claiming the title.
Hopefully, Lacazette can be that man for us.
