Alexandre Lacazette states that Mikel Arteta’s word is law at Arsenal…

Arsenal captain Alexandre Lacazette hailed Mikel Arteta as “the boss of the club” in yet another sign of the influence the Spaniard carries at the club, Mundo Deportivo reports.

It took 12 months for Arteta’s ‘head coach’ role to become upgraded to first-team manager, with the club fully buying into the vision the 40-year-old has for the club.

Currently undergoing his second full season at the club, his first with fans in the ground, Arteta is on-course to guide the club back into the Champions League for the first time since 2017.

Lacazette and Arteta have enjoyed a solid relationship and despite the Frenchman’s contract nearing its expiration, he remains one of the manager’s trusted lieutenants.

“We are focused on being in the top four,” Lacazette was quoted as saying.

“We want to put the team in the Champions League next season. We work for it throughout the week and at the moment, it is working. We want to continue like this, work hard every day to play well over the weekend.”

Asked about who’s the main catalyst behind the Gunners’ revival, the former Lyon man pointed to the boss.

“Arteta is the leader, the boss, even the boss of the club. Since he arrived, many things have changed, including the mentality of the whole world… It’s all about him.”

Arteta has been a revelation so far this season, but he has to prove he navigate a rather tough run-in and see us over the line in these final 10 games.

If successful, the financial leap this club can make will surely make fans start dreaming again about bringing the glory days back to the club.
