Alexandre Lacazette underwent surgery this week on a knee problem…
Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette has vowed to return stronger than ever after he was ruled out for four to six weeks following a sudden knee injury which required surgery.
Lacazette came on for the final 20 minutes at Wembley on Saturday and while most of the conversation was dominated by his failure to convert two good chances, the club dropped the bombshell on Tuesday.
As we prepare to face Ostersunds in the Europa League, the Frenchman was our only authentic option to lead the line in this competition. A competition which now represents our biggest chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
“Thank you, everyone, for your messages,” Lacazette told fans via his Instagram page.
“I will be not on the pitch for few weeks because I feel pain on my knee, the surgery went well…a good recovery before I come back stronger.”
Lacazette hasn’t enjoyed the best of times this season despite starting the season well, with the 26-year-old enduring a barren spell of one goal in his last 11 league games.
However, one imagines that this knee issue has been bothering him for a while and hopefully this procedure will see him return to his sharp best.
