Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has admitted that his antics on the pitch are born out of frustration at not challenging for the Premier League title this season.
The Chilean star joined as a bonified superstar in 2014, aiming to take Arsenal to the next level, though it hasn’t quite gone to plan.
Despite winning the FA Cup in his first season, a trophy he can reclaim in next week, Alexis has always had his eye on the two big trophies.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old said he can’t help but display frustration when we drop points against teams we should be dispatching.
“Sometimes the frustration more than anything is about the fact we could be challenging for the Premier League title,” The former Barca man said.
“Because when it comes to winning the Premier League we often lose or draw against teams at home when we are superior.”
The club’s ambition will be seriously called into question this month with a large number of the fanbase siding with Alexis Sanchez in his assessment.
While some may question why his motives, we must remember that Alexis owes Arsenal Football Club nothing. His situation is nothing like we’ve witnessed with previous star players – players birthed at this football club.
He came to Arsenal to compete for the major honours, something he may have been persuaded could happen at the Emirates, but we’ve failed to live up to those expectations.
Alexis has done his job season in, season out. His qualms are fully justified.
