Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez stopped short of committing his future to us ahead of our clash against Southampton with the Chilean claiming that he’ll discuss his future in the summer.
Alexis is out of contract in a little over a year and despite the prolonged negotiations, all parties have halted talks to concentrate on the season and resume discussions in the summer.
The 28-year-old repeated that line in an interview with Sky Sports but hinted that his future may lie away from Arsenal after stating that he wants to win the Champions League and the Premier League.
Given that it’s highly likely that we won’t even be competing in Europe’s premier competition next term, Alexis’ Arsenal career could be nearing an end.
“I came here to win trophies, to be competing in the Champions League and to win the Premier League,” Alexis said.
“The manager and I have said that the two of us will sit down together to discuss the topic.
“We’ll speak once the season is over.”
While Wenger has repeatedly stated that Alexis will not be sold this summer regardless if he signs a new deal or not, very few people believe him.
The club has attempted to publically claim that stance in the past, only for us to be negotiating the sale of the likes of Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie behind closed doors.
Given that the likes of Dortmund could pass on huge sums of money keep Robert Lewandowski until the last day of his deal, we certainly don’t need the money from a potential Alexis sale.
