Andy Murray includes Thierry Henry in Ultimate XI…

Self-proclaimed Arsenal fan Andy Murray was recently tasked by Sky Sports’ Spanish correspondent Guillem Balague to name his an XI of his favourite players in the history of the game.

Fresh from his quarter-final defeat at Wimbledon, Murray went for a 4-3-3 formation and proved that his knowledge of football spreads beyond these shores and spans across a few generations.

Murray picked a whole host of household names, but he reserved the centre-forward role for Arsenal’s record goalscorer, Thierry Henry, much to Balague’s confusion.

Flanked by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Murray feels Henry was unplayable during his Arsenal career.

“I’m going to put Henry in there,” Murray said.

“Just because, Arsenal; and it was around the time when I started following Arsenal and it was when he was there.

“He was unbelievable.”

Balague tried to throw a spanner in the works by claiming that Ronaldo and Henry are both left-wingers, something the former Wimbledon champions shut down quickly.

Apart from his final years at the top level spent at Camp Nou, Henry played exclusively as a centre-forward, but it seems Balague isn’t aware of football taking place outside of La Liga.
