Arsenal starlet Eddie Nketiah enjoyed a fairytale home debut after he came on to single-handedly saved us from the brink of a League Cup exit at the hands of Norwich City on Tuesday night.

Nketiah was introduced in the 84th minute as we lined up to take a corner kick in search of an equaliser, and the 18-year-old waltzed into the box and tapped home after Francis Coquelin’s flick-on.

That forced the game into extra-time, and it was Nketiah again who grabbed the winner after rising the highest to power a header past Norwich’s Angus Gunn.

It was a thing of dreams for the starlet who has been in impressive form for the development teams and is certainly one of the youngsters we’ve been told to watch out for.

Other than the moments provided by Nketiah, it was a disastrous performance from some of his senior teammates with little creativity and a flimsy backline.

The visitors could’ve gone 2-0 up from a counter-attack moments before we equalised, which would’ve been embarrassing considering the opposition and the team we fielded.

Theo Walcott and Francis Coquelin were the two players who were singled out for criticism, and rightly so. Coquelin was nowhere to be seen for Norwich’s opener as the sliced through the spine of our team, and Walcott just couldn’t get anything right.

With a gifted crop of players coming through the ranks, I think it’s time Wenger focused on harnessing the likes of Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson instead of persisting with poor football players.
