Arsenal produced record numbers under Arteta…

Arsenal produced one of our most dominant displays under Mikel Arteta against Leicester City yet needed an injury-time winner to secure all three points.

The visitors’ goalkeeper Mads Hermansen turned in a performance we used to see regularly from the opposition’s No.1 during Arsene Wenger’s reign at the Emirates Stadium.

While Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz all found the back of the net – in addition to forcing an own goal – the trio should’ve walked away with at least a brace each.

The boss spoke after the game about the amount of situations the team generated and the territory we had, especially after being pegged back to 2-2.

“It got very emotional, more emotional than we wanted certainly but I am really pleased with the performance the way we played, the chances we created, how we dominated the game and after 2-0 the result should have been much bigger.”

A quick glance at the stats after the game was mind-boggling and produced new highs under the Spaniard’s tenure in terms of attacking play.

With 37 shots at goal in the 90 minutes, it was the most a side has registered across Europe’s top five leagues this season. 15 of those shots were on target, the highest in the Premier League since 2017 – months after Arteta retired as club captain.

Check out more of those stats below as Arsenal produced a display that made the discourse around our defensive solidity last weekend seem more laughable.
