Arsenal’s star striker reveals the players always felt they’d come back…

Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it clear that the players were confident at half-time that they’d come back against Spurs in our epic 4-2 win, the Gabon forward told Sky Sports.

Aubameyang gave us the lead from the penalty spot after Jan Vertonghen handled the ball in the box, and it was no less than we deserved.

The 29-year-old squandered another chance to put us further clear, as did the likes of Alex Iwobi and Hector Bellerin – it was a dominant opening period.

However, two quick-fire goals from Spurs made sure that, once again, we didn’t go into the break leading despite a sensational display.

Nevertheless, the boys didn’t let their heads drop and Aubameyang stated that the feeling within the camp was that they would claw their way back.

“At half-time, we spoke, and we knew that we could do it,” the Premier League’s leading goalscorer said.

“With the fans and the atmosphere, you have power and feel strong and go for the win.”

Many observers are of the belief that we’re certainly better at responding when we’re under the cosh this season, a feature which has seen us recover more points from losing positions than any other team in the league this term.

Aubameyang agrees: “Yeah, I think so. We can see always, we never give up and that’s the mentality,” he said when asked if this was a different Arsenal.

Playing Spurs and Man Utd in a matter of days was always seen as a stern test, and we’ve completed 50% of it with flying colours.

The win takes us above our rivals and into the top four, a position we need to be in come the end of the season.
