Arsenal 5-0 Huddersfield…

Arsene Wenger hailed Mesut Ozil’s display against Huddersfield after the 29-year-old bagged an assist as well as scoring another in our most emphatic win this season.

Ozil was originally ruled out of the game with an illness, but it seems that he made a miraculous recovery and boy we needed it after a lacklustre first-half.

We took the lead in the first five minutes with Alexandre Lacazette continuing his hit streak at home as he pounced on a loose ball and smashed it past the goalkeeper on his weaker foot.

However, Ozil’s work rate has caught everyone’s eye in recent games and Wenger reserved special praise for the former Real Madrid man for displaying that special quality.

“Nobody has to convince us he’s a great football player,” Wenger said after the game.

“Everybody knows in the stadium he’s a great football player, but at the moment as well he shows he can fight.

“Our job is to encourage people to fight, but I think he always covered the distances in games, but he’s at an age where he’s more mature and understands what is more important and what is less important.”

Ozil will need to keep his current form for the big game on Saturday as we look to close the gap to second-placed Manchester United to just a point.

It may hand the title to Pep Guardiola’s men, but it will ensure that we’re very much in the battle to finish ‘best of the rest’ in the race for automatic qualification of the Champions League.
