Arsenal look set to sign goalkeeper Matt Turner…

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner for a fee in the region of £5million with the move set to go through in June, The Athletic reports.

Reports emerged last week of our interest in the USMNT goalkeeper as speculation continues around the future of Bernd Leno with the German international entering the final year of his contract.

A January exit always seemed unlikely for the 29-year-old and with Arsenal’s move for Turner set to be delayed until the summer, one can expect Leno to remain in north London for a little while yet.

Indeed, the former Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper has travelled with the squad to Dubai for their warm-weather training camp, further indicating that no movement is expected in the final days of the transfer window.

At 27, Turner will arrive to play instantly, though that will probably come in the cup competitions and as an understudy to Aaron Ramsdale.

Currently the reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the year, Turner is now a full international and competing with Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen for a starting spot.

Turner looks to be a decent shot-stopper, but there’s limited footage on his ability with the ball at his feet. Having said that, very few knew Ramsdale was very capable technically.
